Use this when you want Slokoto Communication to receive calls on a Slokoto number purchased or registered for a workspace.
For the complete Communication knowledge base, including inbox usage, live chat, forms, contacts, operations, AI assist, and troubleshooting, start with [Communication Knowledge Base](./communication/README.md).
Product model
Slokoto Communication owns the call inbox. The underlying voice provider stays behind the scenes and is not exposed as a separate Communication integration. Email and forms are the only mirrored integrations.
Buy a number
- In Slokoto, open Communication > Numbers.
- Choose country and number type.
- Add an optional area code or digits to search for.
- Select Search numbers.
- Select Buy number for the number this workspace should use.
- Confirm the number appears in the Numbers list.
Slokoto assigns the number to the current workspace and configures voice and SMS routing automatically.
Advanced manual registration
Use manual registration only for approved migrations or ported numbers that already exist in the Slokoto environment. The routing URLs shown on the Numbers page are:
https://YOUR-SLOKOTO-DOMAIN/api/webhooks/communication/voice
Status callback:
https://YOUR-SLOKOTO-DOMAIN/api/webhooks/communication/voice/status
Recording callback:
https://YOUR-SLOKOTO-DOMAIN/api/webhooks/communication/voice/recording
Replace YOUR-SLOKOTO-DOMAIN with the actual deployed Slokoto domain for the environment you are configuring.
What happens on calls
- Slokoto resolves the workspace from the called phone number.
- A call conversation is created in Communication.
- If at least one authenticated rep has gone online in the Communication inbox, Slokoto rings those browser clients.
- If nobody answers, or nobody is online, the call falls back to voicemail capture.
- Admins and managers can route numbers to all online reps, a specific teammate, a native voice queue, an IVR menu, or voicemail.
- Voice queues ring enabled online queue members and then fall back to voicemail. IVR menus collect one digit and route the call to a queue, all online reps, or voicemail.
- Managers can use Communication > Operations to monitor active browser calls, queue staffing, missed calls, voicemail outcomes, and queue answer rates.
- Managers can start supervisor coaching from active connected calls: listen-only monitoring, whisper coaching to the rep, or barge-in as a live participant. Coaching actions are written to the Communication timeline.
- Authenticated reps can also place outbound browser calls from the Communication inbox through the workspace's default outbound number.
- Reps on an active browser call can place the call on hold, resume it, cold-transfer it, or start a warm-transfer consultation with an available teammate or E.164 phone number. Call-control actions are recorded in the Communication timeline.
- Call status and recording callbacks are added to the same timeline.
- Calls can start as unclassified and then be updated by Communication Assist, review, or downstream routing.
Current call-control scope
Hold, resume, cold transfer, warm transfer, and supervisor coaching are handled by Slokoto's native voice layer. Queue and IVR routing are configured per workspace number.
Required environment
Browser calling requires the Slokoto deployment voice environment to be configured by the environment operator. If configuration is missing, admins and managers will see the missing deployment variables in Communication > Settings > Setup.
