Templates are reusable message skeletons that help you send consistent, on-brand messages faster. They work in both manual compose and automated sequences.
Where to find templates
There are three places to work with templates:
- AI Settings → Templates tab — create, edit, manage your template library, and run AI Template Discovery
- Automate → Templates tab — create, edit, and manage your template library
- Do It Now → Templates drawer — browse and load a template while composing a message
New to Slokoto? Use AI Template Discovery to automatically generate templates from your team's existing sent emails — no manual setup required.
Creating a template
Open the Automate page and click the Templates subtab. Click Create Template to open the editor.

Email body editor
Email templates use a rich text editor with a full toolbar. You can format text with bold, italic, underline, lists, links, alignment, and more.
SMS body editor
SMS templates use a plain text area with a 160-character limit. A character counter shows how much space remains, and a warning appears when you reach 90% capacity.

Using templates in Do It Now
When composing an email or SMS in Do It Now, click the Templates button to open the side drawer.
- Templates are split into Public and My Templates tabs
- Only templates matching the current channel (email or SMS) are shown
- Search by name, subject, or body content to find the right template
- Click a template to load it into the editor. If you already have a draft, Slokoto asks before overwriting.
- After loading, edit the content freely before sending
Using templates in automations
When you send a lead into automation, Slokoto can use your templates as a starting point for each follow-up step.
- The AI planner selects templates that match the lead's context and channel
- Templates linked to relevant products are preferred when the lead has a known product interest
- The AI personalizes the template content for each lead before sending
- Templates already used for the same lead are excluded to avoid repetition
- If no suitable template exists, Slokoto drafts the message from scratch
Variable placeholders
Templates support dynamic placeholders that get filled in when the message is composed:
| Placeholder | Replaced with |
|---|---|
{{customer_name}} | The lead's name |
{{product_name}} | The relevant product name |
These placeholders work in both the subject line and the body. The AI also personalizes content beyond simple variable replacement, adapting tone and detail based on the lead's situation.
Product knowledge linking
You can associate templates with specific products from your catalog.
- Select one or more products when creating or editing a template
- Product badges appear on the template card for quick context
- In automations, product-linked templates help the AI choose the right message for leads interested in that product
- Templates with no product association are treated as generic and can be used for any lead
Tips
- Start with a few public templates for your most common scenarios — initial outreach, follow-up, pricing response
- Keep template text concise so the AI has room to personalize
- Use usage notes to tell your team when each template works best
- Link templates to products when the message is product-specific
- For SMS, write the core message first, then trim to fit 160 characters
- Review and update templates periodically as your messaging evolves
